One big difference between the Repent Amarillo kooks and Gov. Goodhair is that the kooks appear to actually believe what they are saying. The chance that Goodhair actually believes the Earth is just 6000 old, or even that it is a credible idea, is as close to zero as doesn’t matter.
He and McLeroy probably laugh at creo voters over their Dr. Pepper and Chivas every night.

Whenever I read about Texas creationists, for some reason my mind flashes to El Capitan peak in west TX. It’s in the middle of a desert, but it was a tropical reef hundreds of millions of years ago, in the Ordovician period IIRC.
