That’s always the excuse used in wartime to justify atrocities and the erosion of civil liberties. This war, this enemy, is always the worst ever, always so terribly evil that it justifies trading away our values and some of our freedoms, just so we’ll be safe.

It’s bullshit. It was bullshit when it was used to inter the Japanese. It was bullshit when other countries have done it. And it’s bullshit when the US does it.
