I too once thought this was the case. This is a common misconception, and a mistake that many people make.

As noted above, creationists believe in a literal interpretation of their respective creation myths. To believe that those myths are literal (i.e. “That is exactly how it happened, without deviation or exception”), one must reject the theory of evolution completely.

Why? I mean this seriously. IF one believes the universe was created six thousand years ago in a week - can one not believe that god used evolution in that creation… in other words, that an earth was created to reflect billions of years of micro and macro evolution?

That’s where the “myth” part comes in - which should exclude it from any and every science classroom - which is why I still come here and read - even the anti-creationism threads…. but, again, I know people who believe in the Bible… but recognize that they don’t know everything and therefore have determined to keep their faith and their acceptance of science distinct from one another.
