Years ago, my dad went on a disastrous salmon-fishing trip where no one caught a thing. My mom, as her little joke, made a beautiful fish-shaped meatloaf for dinner, with carrot-slice scales, when he got back.

Now, I’m wondering if it should have been kitten-shaped.
