If someone can name a prominent Republican who publicly opposes creationism and ID, I would dearly love to hear it.

It’s possible that Darrell Issa R-Vista CA does, but he does represent Vista, a place that has had problems with creationist school boards in the past. Nothing at all about education on his website, but he is known for favoring local education control. I have no idea if that is an indicator of a creation/ID supporter.
