]My personal feeling is that she is not, at this point, an independent actor in this drama. Nothing I saw in the speech or the canned Q&A afterwards made me feel any different.

I didn’t watch her speech or the Q&A since I value my brain cells and my sanity too much to listen to her, but I’d say she’s in this for one person only— herself.

She’s a grifter, plain and simple. I’m sure some part of her believes the BS she’s spewing, but I think that overall, the people organizing these Tea Party events have one agenda, and she’s got another one.

Her time on the McCain campaign trail got her new, fancy clothes and shoes and people to do her makeup and hair. She suddenly got the fame she’d always wanted. She’s got a bunch of delusional people around her feeding her ego, telling her she has a chance at the White House in 2012, and that she’s a brilliant leader. If she’s got to make a few wingnut speeches and maintain her sheltered, carefully crafted image to keep all of that going and her pockets lined, so be it.
