For our stay in NY, we rented an apartment for $80/night. One bedroom, living room, kitchenette. Very reasonable, comfortable and clean considering what even a crappy hotel room in NY costs.

The best thing: there are all kinds of kosher delis, dairy restaurants, sushi bars that DELIVER! The worst thing: parking. Gah. I was driving slowly around the block with my hazard lights on. Another driver came up alongside me, saw the blinkers, saw the out-of-state license plate, asked “Are you in trouble?” (A New Yorker stopping to offer assistance! That’s gotta be a first!) I said “I’m just looking for a parking space.”

Then I actually found a primo parking spot right next to the building, such that Zedushka preferred to walk to my daughter’s engagement party two and a half blocks in the pouring rain rather than give up that spot and then drive around and around to find another spot.
