FWIW I think by their actions many churches do denounce Falwell. Whether it’s by welcoming LGBT members or clergy, welcoming immigrants, or by promoting actually helping the less well off. I don’t need a ministry to call out Falwell directly if I see actions that show their theological worldview rejects his.

Nope: Direct press release. Officially condemn them. I do need a church ministry to call them out directly: Silence is assent.
