I am pretty sure it is incorrect… no conservative would eat at Applebee’s.

There’s a guy who used to write exposes of weird crazy groups in the Bay Area for a local tabloid. He would infiltrate, then report.

He once tried to infiltrate the local neo-Nazis. They took him to Applebees. Somehow that just made it both worse and more hilarious.
