OK, does it matter if it was never even registered or connected to the internet?

You can still get viruses by putting an infected disk into the computer. That’s how they spread before the internet. (Some USB devices from China have also been found to contain viruses preloaded direct from the factory.) Was it never connected to or upgraded with anything?
