But generally, today, the only people under 80 who can read and write grammatical Yiddish in Yiddish orthography are some Satmar families in NY whose family still speak it at home because Hebrew is too holy for daily use, etc.

(I learned it through very patient grandparents, and I’d read the Daily Forward daily when it was still sold through the 70s and early 80s.)
