Actually…yes, they are actually using an alternate Bible.

You buy annotations that tell what the Bible “really” means. The text itself isn’t different, but the meaning of the parables and ornate language are transformed by the “notes” and “study guides.” For example, the Scofield annotation strings together Bible sections to create a justification for dispensationalist apocalypticism. David Barton’s use of scripture is another example: he tells you what the parable means.

It’s the same thing that used to get criticized by the pre-Reformation Church…between individual and God stands a dude who just happens to know what God wants.
