I’ve seen this kind of “logic” from Texas fundies many times. For example, that earthquakes are caused by gays, spaceflight etc. because “you used to never hear about ‘em before (whatever).” It never occurs to them that they used to have 3 TV channels and a newspaper they could barely read, and there were less than half as many people in the world.
One of the oddest things I have heard from fundies is that twice as many boys as girls are born every year. I have heard this from more than one of them, over a period of many years.

Fundies also claim “gays cause weather disasters.” The best counter I heard to that was from an atheist who noted there was very little damage from Hurricane Katrina in the French Quarter. Obviously, all the gays who live in the French Quarter spared that section of the city from disaster.

Hence, all we need to do is figure out how to spread out “teh geyhs” in an equitable manner across the nation to provide the best means to repel weather disasters.

On the issue of “twice as many boys are born than girls,” I have heard that argument as well, but only in regard to legal abortion (liberals are allowing people to abort girls, thus we need to eliminate safe and legal abortion because liberals are the real misogynists).
