Don’t think for a moment that there would not be all kinds of shenanigans and favor trading behind closed doors for the Senatorial seats. Blago comes to mind.

Blago’s career is over and he is going to go to jail. Like I said, I think the corruption would be easier to police today than it was 100 years ago.
