DF, we are so far from what our mythology claims that even that argument holds little water. We still have a Congress composed of torture apologists and the police no longer even pretend to “serve and protect” more than the 1%. We’re on a national Highway to Hell and the cheerleaders long ago drowned out the sane.

If you look at the synagogue incident in Brooklyn yesterday, you’ll see that lessons can be learned.

And if you’re going to criticize Congress, at least credit John McCain for his consistency on this issue, because wingnuts are going to scream at him over it.
