The most chilling, godawful thing about the Dorner case so far is that threatening people’s children appears to have been an effective strategy. One man has put the entire LAPD and other regional agencies into an abject panic. They’re shooting up innocent people in trucks, you can’t find motorcycle cops anymore, they put them all in cars. One man, and he’s got them, on a systemic institutional / organizational level, absolutely terrified.

He’s a very effective terrorist. And it’s also why Superman doesn’t reveal his secret identity — for fear that people near him will get attacked.

Dorner is basically the closest thing we have to supervillain. It’s scary.
