You know, not to disrespect the good people of Flyoverland who voted for this asshole, but seriously - all the shit that’s been happening for the last 3+ weeks since the inauguration is all stuff people said would happen. The corruption; the total abandonment of ‘fighting for the little guy’; the stupid, lurching foreign policy; the astonishingly bad management of the Executive Branch - all of it predictable, and predicted. They voted for him anyway, because he promised them he’d bring back the 1950s.

Maybe we used words that were too big for them. Maybe we were insufficiently understanding of their plight. Maybe we didn’t spend enough time in their districts.

Or maybe, just maybe they’re just really dumb, and gullible, and easily fooled by a bright, shiny object. They’re like toddlers - you can tell ‘em that the stove is hot, but they JUST HAD TO touch the fucking stove.

At the risk of sounding like a snob I agree. I’m sorry but we did warn them. We did try to tell them that Trump was a walking disaster. We did try to tell them that Trump wasn’t going to bring back their jobs. And they treated us like snobs. Yes, I’m from a well to do family but you know what, goddamn it, they’re the not the only ones who have been less well off. My own father had to declare bankruptcy when I was a kid. I saw first hand how tough the economy can be to a small business owner. Yes, I have a college degree, yes, I value cultural diversity but an elite? Nope.
