That is also the model that the monarchists are promoting. But they fail to see that for starters, Germany does not have a long tradition of monarchy, the Hohenzollers only ruled a united Germany from 1871 to 1918.

And they fail to see that most people (including many Germans) see the Kaiser as a ludicrous comic-opera figure with pointy moustaches and a spiked helmet who stands for a part of Germany’s past that they see as long gone and outdated.

Yeah; hell, there’s monarchists here in Czech Republic as well. Not quite too sure who they’d wanna install up in Prague Castle, though…..the last monarch was the Austro-Hungarian Emperor and you have to go way, way back to find a monarch who wasn’t from one of the other (non-Czech) royal houses of Europe.
