It would be nice if, as a society, we could understand and empathize with the young men who felt the need to make bombs and kill people but still hold them accountable for their horrific crimes. At the same time, empathize and care for the victims physically and psychologically maimed.

I hope they capture the last suspect alive. The trial will be painful for all but we need to confront the cycle of hate.

Given the brothers’ actions to this point, I somehow don’t think that’s gonna be in the cards; he’s either going to go out by suicide-by-cop or, if the reports of a “suicide vest” are accurate, he’s gonna try to take as many people with him as possible.

If he’s taken alive without further casualties, I’ll be surprised.
