Another interesting factoid I read somewhere was that with a single exception, every US President (including Obama, via the Dunhams) has some sort of familial connection to George Washington (usually via lengthy collateral descent from the English branch, as George and Martha didn’t have any children). The only exception, for some reason, is Gerald Ford.

It must be interesting to find this stuff out - my own family tree (like, I’m sure, many Americans’) only goes back as far as Ellis Island a century or so ago - my grandparents.
Before that, pretty much a blank, as both sides of my family were immigrants from low-literacy shtetls in the backwaters of Eastern Europe, where records may or may not even exist.
