i don’t disagree. i didn’t see how that poses the same concern as, say, folks who wish we’d submit to the ICOJ.

but i admit that i have no idea nor have i been concerned about how many such “folks” exist…i guess i’ve always assumed it’s a small enough population to shrug off. DF wasn’t making an overbroad point about it either.

Yeah, I think it is a straw man. The idea that there are hordes of American lefties that want the U. S. to abrogate its sovereignty is a useful fiction, especially if you are trying to raise money or support from the “America, fuck yeah!” set.

It’s like the whole “citing foreign jurisprudence” meme, in which the Right has decided it is somehow un-American and dangerous for a judge to read and/or cite legal thought from other countries. It is absurd.
