David French, writing for the National Review, claims the Mayor of Nashville speaking out against the so-called ā€œNashville Statementā€ is inappropriate interference of the state in church affairs.

He also asserts (without evidence) that progressives are not inclusive of Christianity, which would likely be a surprise to many progressives who are Christians.

Of course, the real issue Mr. French is pushing is ā€œif you arenā€™t following my version of Christianity, youā€™re not a Christianā€ problem that has dogged Christianity since its founding.

Donā€™t ever forget that, for some folks, ā€œseparation of church and stateā€ is a half-measure. Itā€™s just a pit stop on the road to de-Christianizing America. Itā€™s a temporary means to a much bigger end.
