Because the Republican Party is seen as the party of bigots and antisemites. When people like Pat Buchanan are welcomed and praised by the GOP at high profile events like CPAC, and Ann Coulter can defend the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens and say that Jews are “perfected Christians,” and GOP politicians appear on white supremacist radio shows, I can’t really blame them.
