No offense to who is working on your computer, but regardless of the problem(s), it shouldn’t take that long.

My work laptop went all wonky. Slow as molasses. Running 40-60% of CPU all the time, even with no aps running. Even making a slight change in Excel would throw it in to ‘Not Responding’ for minutes. Luckily, I had my workstation (currently aligning 16 samples of RNAseq data AND heating my office!) was still working fine.

One of the IT guys spent two days on it. Finally tracked down the problem - some background ap was corrupted, but not badly enough to simply fail to load. No, it kept running, eating up 60% of CPU at all times. He uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and it was fine.

Then my phone had a simple problem that took a day’s work to identify and fix.

Still kind of interesting that it took that long. Unless the program in question was loaded up at startup as a service, which makes it harder to track down, it should be pretty easy to find it and fix it. Oh well, good to see that it was fixed.

I am guessing that the phone in question was an Android phone?
