Reported on, but to whom? In the mid 60s when television wasn’t even 2 decades old, white conservatives turning waterhoses on nonviolent protesters was news. Now, in the era of the internet and youtube, the concept of “reporting on it” has shifted. That’s where threads like this come in.

Reported on to whoever watches the damn box in the corner that pumps out incessant bile and discordant trash 99% of the time.

You tel people what happened with relevant background. That’s what new used to be - it’s what news should be.

News is facts. Not opinions. If people want opinions they can watch simon effin cowell and his freak parade of no hope misfits who all have an opinion on everything.

Factor in the internet - news orgs should cram their sites with news. Stuff that happened, not get it confused with garbage about what people think happened, junk law stories and assorted other crap.

There are people who don’t care about what happens in the world - they watch America’s Got Talent. There are people who care about honest sourcing - they don’t read hot air. There are people who care about integrity - they don’t watch fox for their news.
