That example is from October of 2009 when I was looking into it. I live in Phoenix. It’s generally sunny here (wouldn’t know that from the last two weeks).

Solar would make sense, BUT the upfront costs are still pretty high, about $30k for 12KW.

I was just wondering if RacerX was looking at the same costs.

There is now a company that will install THEIR cells on YOUR roof and lease them to you at a fraction of the real cost. They however, collect the money from the utility for any surplus sent to the grid and they retain all tax and utility incentives. I haven’t had time to look into how much sense that could make.

It can’t hurt to cut down energy use or use sources that make sense for one’s location.

Solar is next to useless in many parts of the country.
