You know, after the Sandy Hook shooting, my kid got hate mail from an asshole at his high school calling him a retard and a murderer. Because this idiot kid saw all the publicity about autism/Asperger’s regarding Adam Lanza. Because the media fucking sucks and no one could be bothered to do some research. In metro Atlanta, there’s no excuse, we have the Marcus Center, which is devoted (though IMO, somewhat haphazardly) to autism education, research and programs for little kids on the spectrum. It would have taken some asinine reporter a couple of minute to make a phone call and find someone to go on the record. But nooo, they waited for a LONG time before they bothered. I only found out about this a couple weeks ago when The No Longer a Teenager told me about it. People suck, and so do their rotten kids.

Now they’re going off the edge with PTSD talk. I hate to break it to the “media” but a LOT of people have PTSD, not just soldiers. Survivors of rape, domestic violence, armed robberies, assaults, people who lose their homes in fires and floods and tornadoes, etc, etc. Doesn’t mean a damned thing other than the people with PTSD need treatment and help, not more stigma. God this PISSES me off.
