Thank you for this comment, SFZ. My son is on meds. Several of them and he needs them to be able to function in a school setting. (His physician is a neurologist BTW.) The situation is hardly perfect but I’d rather he be able to learn than not. Even with meds we are in daily (yes, daily. Maybe every other day in a really really good week) contact with the school staff & teachers. Some days we are in touch multiple times, even with a med regimen.

I am glad to hear of your child’s success, but I do hope you don’t automatically assume that it’s always going to be that way for everyone.

My babysitter has a kid in high school who was diagnosed with ADD and placed on Ritalin when he was in elementary school. She said it helped him. I wasn’t going to just go with meds the first month of kindergarten. So far it’s been great. She’s in 3rd grade and reading on a 6th grade level. I just think she’s so smart they couldn’t grasp it.
