I can’t help but think that Obama’s “mandatory volunteer” will turn off kids to the idea of community service. When it’s required it’s a chore and obligation. Whether it’s foster care, or service with the volunteer fire department, or just picking up trash along a road. It has to come from within.

Volunteerism comes out of the individual spirit and love for his fellows people. Obama wants to nationalize even that.
