re: #834 realwest

Well on an individual level I disagree with you about our ability to look out for one another; it’s easy to overlook all the good and worthwhile groups who provide soup kitchens, shelters and job possibilities (at a fraction of the cost of government - Federal or State - doing it) but en masse I’m afraid I agree with you.
But as much as I HATE the MSM, we all have to share the blame too. When’s the last time you tried to engage your neighbor in intellegent, non-heated political discussion - try to pry away the hand that automatically pulls the lever for D or R ? (and NO, I don’t mean “you” as in you personally!). Seems to me that probably 50% of Americans just try to get on with their lives, almost oblivious to what the governments are doing that make getting on with their lives SO MUCH more difficult.

I’ve tried to do my share, not politically but socially…I’ve given plenty of time and money away…it’s all I can do…volunteering is extremely rewarding for me…burn clinics, food drives, senior citizens and I get out and about as much as possible…not blowing my own horn but it works for me…I love this country and the people in it
