House Appropriations Chair Hal Rogers said he was at the airport and summoned back. He says there should be an immigration vote—up or down— Jeff Zeleny (@jeffzeleny) July 31, 2014
Let that sink in. He thought that the session would be done well before 3pm, and had flight scheduled. He’s probably not alone in Congress-critters scurrying back to caucus and figure out what the heck is going on.
That just adds another layer of delicious craziness for the GOP majority whip/majority leader (Scalise/McCarthy) who’s jobs it is to count heads to make sure that they’ve got the votes for whatever is supposed to come to a floor vote.
