Avanti, some countries require you to have a certain amount of pocket money available to you for possible medical care before you enter the country.
I will use Poland for one example. At customs, when entering the country, they can ask you to supply proof that you have a certain amount of money that could be used to cover emergency medical care.
Fair enough, but even in Poland, I doubt if they would allow you to die on the emergent room floor if you were broke or had crossed the border illegally.
