I’m a little more optimistic about the Republican Party as an entity (although not the current lack of principled leadership). The craziest factions of parties get louder when they sense an opportunity to reposition after a loss. This happened with the Dems too. Eventually the grownups will decide where to send their checks and who to vote for and all of the smoke and light (with no heat) will clear. The basement radicals will continue to seek their 15 minutes of fame, but I seriously doubt bloggers will define either political party’s center mass.
