Jack White is absolutely right - the Black Keys did blatantly steal the White Stripes’ style.

I beg to differ! (Kidding…but there may something to it, as I’ve always wondered).

There was a two man, drums and guitar band here in Columbus a ways back before the White Stripes called the Bassholes. Saw them a couple times when a friends band (V3 - Jim Shepard) was the main act and the Bassholes opened.

Here is a Wiki page on the main dude, guitarist Don Howland. I was sort of surprised how much info on the ‘net there is about them.

And of course, I realize there might be others. But I have no doubt Jack White may have heard of them being the music historian and hound for underground he is.
