Didn’t Burris recently say that race has never been a major consideration of his political career? Yet his tomb is engraved with “First Black this” and “First Black that” under the heading Trail Blazer.
Methinks that race is muy importante to Burris’ career, but he is saving the “race card” for if/when the Senate truly rejects him.

You can’t sescape race politics in Chicago. It is always there.
I attended a vendors conference years back to supply services to the City of Chicago. We all left our cards.
Less tha a half hour after I left a minority contractor called me & said that he would front for 25% of the fees.
Like an idiot I asked if his firm would be performing 25% of the work.
He was laughing so hard I was afraid that he would convulse.
We walked away.
