Even a plain old eruption would be catastrophic. The glaciers would melt and flood the valley leading to Seattle.

Global warming! (BTW, some glaciers in Greenland are moving faster because they are being heated from below, not due to warmer air. That must be our fault for not using enough geological power to cool the Earth.)
