I don’t know that you’re wrong. I don’t know exactly what your point is. If NPR is truly trying to maintain high journalistic standards then firing Juan over this is totally justified.

All I meant was this: When I heard what Williams said, I got the impression that he was talking about a gut reaction he has, under a certain set of circumstances. And it seemed to me that he was saying it not to justify or rationalize it, but to to point out that it is wrong, whether involuntary or not. I was just looking for peoples opinions on it. From what I’d seen, it seemed like he was taking a pretty good beating(a beating delivered by a pillow case full of bills, of course, so it’s far from all bad), and I just wanted to hear opinions.
