There was a story in Analog, must be 15 years ago now, about a comedian with a nightly show who declared his candidacy on the air a month or two before the election. The story ended with him waking up hungover on Wednesday morning as the President-elect going basically WTF! Good tale & rather scary to consider at the moment.
