The bottom line is that the Senate is anti-democratic and there is no way to escape that simple observation.

But try to get any politician, any Democratic Senator, to stand up and say the Senate has to go away or be fundamentally changed.

These things are now too wired into our identity as a nation.

This is why these same old issues seem to never go away.

This is a hard problem and I don’t know how to fix it.

Every problem we are facing requires a constitutional amendment. I’ve been saying to not rely on stare decisis or both sides acting in good faith for years. Do the work to get it done, and keep trying until it works.

Passing a law that will just get overturned almost immediately is a waste of effort and performative for the mass of idiots in America that don’t know how anything works.

Democracy is constant work.
