re: #81 darthstar

I don’t think women should have to plan on being raped…or plan on being impregnated by rape. The Handmaid’s Tale is supposed to be fiction. Assholes like this guy would make it a training manual.

I don’t plan on being hit by a car, or mauled by a pit bull, either, but if these things should happen to me, I would like to think that my insurance policy would not turn out to have banned treating me unless I had special ‘car crash’ or ‘pit bull’ insurance.

My point is that this guy is deliberately voting to ban insurance companies from offering abortion services under general policies, making ‘planning ahead’ for catastrophe—one reason people have health insurance at all— that much harder and more expensive.

So in his analogy, it’s like, “You can get Triple-A, but they’ve been prohibited by law from helping you if you have engine trouble, unless, of course, you purchase the special engine trouble insurance. But we must plan ahead, mustn’t we? And pay extra for something I will never need. Tee hee.”

Fuckin’ self-righteous eejit.
