I read that in ancient rome, public figures such as actors or gladiators were considered infam and forbidden occupy public office to avoid turning politics into spectacle.
We are starting to see some of the reasoning behind it.
Maybe at some point in their earlier history, the Romans had dealt with someone, perhaps an actor or gladiator, who parlayed their fame into public office and after creating some kind of shitshow, the Roman Senate decided they werenโt having that anymore in the future.
