I read about that last night & I am thoroughly appalled. Here is a response I posted to avanti’s idiotic defense of Obama’s pending diplomatic epic fail:

You are deluded. The report indicates Obama’s letter promises the US does not seek the overthrow of the Iranian regime, but only to change their behavior. Tell me, by what ingenious argument will Obama, President of the Great Satan, USA, convince the divinely guided mullahs of Tehran to “change their behavior”?

If addressed as an open letter to the Iranian people, it will come as a terrible blow to them. 70% of Iranians hate the mullahs and hope for their evil regime to end.

Iranian elections are shams. The mullahs on the Council of Guardians choose the candidates and eliminate anyone deemed unacceptable. President Ahmadinejad, although offensive, is a puppet to the mullahs. The mullahs will allow a so-called moderate to be elected if they believe the US administration will be fooled into thinking the regime is actually moderating. On that point they have the feckless administration of Obama the Naive squarely pegged.

The Iranians have already told Obama they will never stop their nuclear program, and have added the additional demand of an apology for all US past wrongs against Iran. No doubt you will applaud Obama’s further grovelling.

Oh, the authors of the letter crow that this will mark the end of the US labeling Iran a part of the “Axis of Evil”. Here’s a short catalog of life in Iran under the mullahs:

- Iran has the highest per-capita rate of heroin addiction in the world, while the mullahs control the drug trade
- thousands of the children orphaned by the 2003 earthquake in Bam, Iran have been sold into slavery by the mullahs “charity” which took them in
- Iran is the world’s leading source of child sex slaves, sold to wealthy Iranians, Gulf Arabs and even into Europe
- the average per capita income of Iranians is 5% of what it was 30 years ago
- Iran has armed & trained thousands of Iraqi militia fighters
- Iran has provided a safe haven to several senior al Qaeda terrorists, including Osama bin Laden’s son
- Iran funds, arms & trains Hezbollah
- Iran funds, arms & trains Hamas
- Iranian officials have been charged in connection with the 1994 terrorists attacks in Buenos Aries
- several Iranian mullahs & other officials have made repeated calls & threats to destroy the state of Israel
- Iranian agents have been identified in connection with the 1996 Khobar towers attack

Maybe Obama sees it differently, but that hideous record sounds perfectly evil to me. Obama is dangerously naive if he believes a letter of apology will change Iranian behavior.

Like I said the other day, Obama is a weenie.
