re: #38 turn

Hey LH, are you opposed to the idea of shooting it down or blowing it up on the pad? I don’t want the Norkos to develop this technology but I don’t think that destroying that missile would be a very wise thing to do at this point.

I think that the US strategy of not doing anything unless it actually threatens the Hawaiian islands or other US bases directly is a sound strategy. We want to collect as much data as possible about the missile and the tech the North incorporated into the missile. Shooting it down or blowing it up on the pad creates an international incident that we know wont go the way of the US and we lose the tech info that we would need. We also don’t want to give away all the details of our own anti-missile systems to keep those looking on guessing as well. As long as the missile doesn’t head towards Hawaii, I believe the US is just going to lodge a protest and let that be it.

All bets are off if that missile makes a bee-line to Hawaii or Alaska or somehow misfires and heads towards Japan. Then, I think we’d see the US or Japanese shoot it down if the North Koreans don’t destroy it with self-destruct first.
