There was more to that interview than the clip you posted.
Through the whole interview, it was apparent that this is a family who are not particularly smooth speakers, and add to that that trauma of the day - well, they just sounded, throughout the entire interview, like they were having trouble getting their thoughts together, and I can well imagine what a hellish day this was for them.

I’ve had a 6-year-old, and they will say and do really weird things sometimes. Like tell a teacher that their favorite thing to do at home is to catch all the bugs they find crawling around on the floor. In a home that is perfectly clean and bugless, thank you.

I tend to think this kid was probably stressed, tired, and just being 6.
