Interesting segment. Rauf may not be my kind of guy. I’m a little suspicious of him. Not quite sure of his motives or religious/political views. I can’t bring myself to hate him, he’s probably not a danger and i see no reason to deny him the right to build the community center there.

I’m kind of the opposite when it comes to Imam Rauf. When I hear him speak or read quotes from him I allow everything their most charitable interpretations. I have a hard time not assuming he’s a man of good will when after 9/11, when part of our foreign policy was government sanctioned outreach to the Muslim world, he was one of the ones who stood up and served his country in that role (and continues to). I just can’t see him doing all that work, often to an extremely skeptical audience, if he wasn’t passionate about the message he was delivering, and that makes it easy to take him at his word when he claims Park 51 is an extension of that work.
