That piece neglects to mention the Mi-28 ‘Havoc’ gunship helicopters Iraq has receive from Russia, in addition to the fact that the Iraqi Air Force also took delivery of six additional Mi-35M ‘Hind’ gunships this year*. Iraq has more gunships than that reporter knew and it has been the gunships that have kept ISIS from being able to seize Baji oil refinery.

With its hyperbolic tone and omission of key facts, that article is better suited for Fox News Channel instead of ABC.

*: Iraq has operated the Hind since the 1980s, but the six received this year are new built instead of being refurbished. They are updated in many ways, but most notably by the replacement of the 4-barrel 12.7mm Gatling gun with a duel-barrel 23mm cannon.
