A side effect of all the copper thefts has been the reappearance of aluminum wiring. In some places it’s being used in street lights, since it isn’t as attractive to thieves as copper. If they’re smart (which I seriously doubt), they’ll wire these homes for the homeless with aluminum (but that could require changing electrical codes).
