Coakly is a poor candidate—but this is Massachusetts. There have been too many coincidental “poor candidates” losing elections to Republicans of late.

By my count, there’s only been two, both “off season” elections. I would hardly call that a trend, nor is it something I am going to get hopeful about. I am holding out for the 2010 season.
