The DP is where I don’t get the American people. Okay, you tell me that we’re spending too much money on welfare, “free stuff”, and you’re concerned the government has too much power but wait you’re peachy with the state having the power to execute people. To quote Ace Ventura, alrighty then!

I think it’s because they honestly don’t realize that it’s an ineffective deterrent and is more costly than life sentences. “Common sense” would tell you that severe penalties for crimes would disincentivize committing them, but that isn’t necessarily true.
