re: #90 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))
I live in wine country. Must admit that I don’t drink a lot of it, more than the odd glass gives me a sour stomach. And although I can tell a good wine from a bad one, I have never been able to develop the sort of palate that can tell grape varieties apart (I can tell a red from a whlte by looking at them) and certainly cannot pick out a “hint of apricot and wheat grass with a smoky almond finish”
Pretty much me as well. I appreciate a good wine occasionally and have gone to wine tastings and stuff but it’s not something I care about.
I do know that adding wine when cooking adds a nice flavor so I use wine when cooking way more often than drinking.
So I split the baby/bathwater by buying $20 bottles so it could be drinkable but almost never is (drinken…drank…drunk??).
